Default HELP. adverts keep popping up on my screen

OK
my computer has been running fine for years.
just the other week, i had an update for zonealarm and windows defender thing. which normally work fine.

i use adaware, spybot and avg anti virus which all work well and have the latest updates.

i tried to download a few games the other day from limewire and i have ended up with something on my computer. adaware and spybot have picked up a load of things and i have got rid of them. avg states that there are no viruses present and zone alarm is not blocking anything, yet every 3-4 mins im getting a shit load of adverts open in internet explorer!
WTF

the only thing that has changed is the zonealarm spyblocker toolbar, never used to have that and now i do.

any ideas and tips for me to stop this annoying thing?

i had this a few years ago, each time you scan you pick stuff up and you get rid of it, but it returns in a future scan?

I downloaded HIJACK THIS and googled a website forum where they told me which ones to delete, problem sorted

The adverts you mention sound like a problem involving adware or spyware mate, find another copy... the thing is, if you download games from limeware this sort of thing happens, trojan horses easily attach themselves to said files, as there is alot of information in a game. Save all your important data onto an external drive of some sort just in case you need a reboot for future reference if you download any more games

I downloaded a few games a few months back and ended up with three trojan's one game was from a legit site too!

But as stated, check adware and spyware, also check your pop up blockers are actually working.... and check whats actually coming into and out of your PC through your firewall.

as Ross said, download hijackthis then join the lavasoftsupport forum (its free) post your hijackthis log on there and then they'll reply back with what you gotta do, all step by step instructions and you may have to download some other programs to completely rid your computer of any infection but they'll tell you.

I'll get my tech heads to have a look into it mate. They know of plenty of programs you can use

EDIT: yes a system restore can sort the PC out... but you will still need to update. Ensure you save all the data you deem important onto a DVD or something mate
