Default Power steering bottle removal?

Hi,

Can anyone clarify if the power steering bottle can be removed (cut pipe short and block off) to make room in the engine bay? or does the bottle also act like a expansion point for the oil hence the bottle?

Thanks.

the amount of fluid in the pipe is needed without it the pump can run dry. Best bet if your in that much need of space is to get a pump from a 106 like this.- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-106-CI...#ht_500wt_1156

It's just the later style one, from about 2001 onwards (saxo & 106)

But I think you can shorten the pipe on your current one.
As I think its only that length to make it easier to check level / fill up

I suppose I have nothing to lose by shortening the hose and seeing how long it last , all I need to do now is figure out what size hose it is and buy an appropriate bung, may take the opportunity to change the fluid as well, will update this post once I've ran it for a while.

Thanks for the help.
