UPDATE!!!!
Right i had some free time again today so i cracked on with the boot build, and i also picked the ICE up last night
First up heres some pics of the ICE, all Rockford Fosgate gear, cant remember what model it all is, but the Amp is 500 Watt RMs at 4 Ohms and 1000 Watt RMS at 2 Ohm, thats all i can remember from the sticker on the amp. Anyway heres the pics:
The First thing i did this morning was attach the rest of the support legs to the floor, as with anything else it was all glued and screwed to bass-proof it as much as possible:
With the legs fitted i could then add in the extra bits of MDF i needed to make the floor wide enough to fill the boot:
Floor could now be cut to correct size:
As i'm planning to mount the amp in the centre this meant no support bars could be put in place, there for i found this metal plate kicking around in the garage to strengthen the weakest part of the floor:
Trial fitting, its tight but it fits....just:
Finally i mounted the amp on the underside of the floor:
List of things to do:
- Fit new wiring kit for Amp
- Cover the floor (Paint or Audio Carpet)
- Carpet panel around the boot lock
- Get brighter bulb for boot light
- Soundproof tailgate (Got some old sofa cushions that are going in there...)
- Route the output cable from Amp to Subs (Need to drill through a support leg and through the floor)
Won't be any more updates for a while now though guys as i'm working for the next 8 or 9 days in a row, but i got a couple of days off after that so i'll hopefully get it finished then and i'll keep you updated with any progress i make as soon as i make it
James

I've kept it sooooo neat for a reason, all should become when i next update you .
As for the strength, i want it to last and its only lightweight wood so it seemed silly not to give it lots of strength when it weighs so little, but now its virtually bombproof
Not really thought about cooling tbh, might add a vent at some point i'll see how hot it gets in there first, cos its not fully enclosed so it can vent a little, i'll just have to see how it goes and maybe add a vent in the future if the amp starts to over heat.

Sorry bout the amount of pics my laptop don't like this thread much either because of all the pics so i might cut it down a little at some point.
Honestly mate as u can see it really simple to do, just take your time and the key thing to remeber is you can always take more off you cant put it on so easily though, by that i mean cut it too big and sand it till it fits.
Its cheap as well you can build a false for under 20 quid no problem, even if you had to buy screws, wood, glue and carpet you wouldn't be looking at any more than bout 25 quid.
Give it ago its really rewarding!
James

Yeah I can get all the bits i need easy enough and I really want to get on with this. Gunna have to make some room for running two amps though got quite a 'chunky' sub box aswell. Oh well i'm sure it will all come together soon enough. Can't wait to see what this looks like so keep us updated

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!
Right been a busy day but unfortunately not alot to show for it, but as always i got some pics of what i've done and i'll let you know whats been done how much is left to do
Right first task this morning was to turn the subs round so that they are the right way round as i'm mounting the box differently to the previous owner, so the logo and everything would of been upside down which would of annoy me, heres the pics of the adjusted subs and wires though:
Next job, was the wiring kit, whic the best part of the day because i had to find the easiest way to thread everything through, it was bad enough trying to do the 10 guage stuff on my last sub, so 4 guage was a nightmare, but we got there in the end.
Tried feeding the power cable in from the engine bay side and that didn't work and after half an hour of trying i gave up:
Then tried feeding the cable from the passenger footwell and i was quite a lot more successful as you can see:
After the cable was through i fitted the 60 amp fuse and its holder:
Next up was the battery connector, spent half an hour beating it with a hammer and trying to crimp it shut with pliers, before i realised all i needed to do was stick it in the vice
With my new found crimping knowledge the earth/ground cable was preped in just over a minute
I then fitted the earth/ground to the amp, as i figured it will make things easier once the build is in the boot and i'm trying to connect everything up:
With those jobs done, i fitted the 6x9's back how they were as everything now has clearance due to the sub box being fitted a different way
The boot, ready and waiting...
Right things still to do (before the build can be installed):
- Find a route for speaker cables for amp to sub
- Cover the floor
- Fix subs to the floor
- Connect up power cable
- Find a earth/ground point
Things to do once funds allow:
- Carpet remainder of boot
- Fit new boot light
- More lighting (LED's or neons)
- Fit PC fans or vents if amp is overheating
Thats it for today peeps more updates tomorrow, should be all set-up and booming by then too, as well as looking better...hopefully
James

All starting to come together now! Looking good aswell, how come you took the passenger seat out, just to make it a bit easier ? Doesn't look like much but at least now your your basically ready to install it all. Good work
