Yeah they are awesome fun mate, although i don't really drift on the road. Kerbs do just jump out of nowhere.

Yeah i have actually recently raised the front up a tad as i'm going to Wales for a weekend trip Friday and couldn't be dealing with dragging the car around on its chassis rails.

Only thing stopping me getting one is that I like to be able to throw the vtr about, where as i had rwd I'm slightly worried I'd lose it and wouldn't be able to throw it around too much.

Set up properly, it'll handle brilliantly.
Mine handles far better than both my old saxo's. (Personal opinion)
But Mx5s are known for there pretty decent handling..
The rear will only step out if you want it too, they're still quite controllable when they do step out.

As said above, they're very grippy cars. I can still grip really fast round the track at Lydden with a welded diff and 80psi in the rear ditch finders lol. Steps out round the back corner at about 65 so imagine it with a proper diff, proper tyres and a grip geo set up. They're mental lol.

Faster than a VTR, slower than a VTS. But I've kept up with much more powerful cars due to the cornering ability. Plus turbo / supercharger setups are readily available. Then you're talking a reliable 230bhp with room for much more.

Paid £400 for mine this time last year, just been valued at £1700 by the insurer. Only polished it and put some coilovers on it lol.
Get yourself on mx5nutz.com.

Tempting me more and more now... How much are you talking for turbo/charger? Seen mighty car mods and looks way enough but is it 200bhp on standard internals etc? Sorry clogging up your thread btw!

The engines can handle 250bhp easily. Anything over that and it'll be worth investing in some forged goodies. Using a home brew kit that'll run on a fpr and a timing advance will be about 600 quid. You'll really want to use an aftermarket ecu like megasquirt though along with an intercooler to see reliable decent figures.
Off the shelf kits are about 2k upwards. I'd keep an eye out for a second hand kit on the forums. That'll be everything for about a grand and you know it works.

Is it me, or do the majority of prices on mx5nutz seem quite high?
Or is there a large difference in price between clean none rusty ones and the ebay rotters?

Mx5 nutz prices are usually quite high because they're mostly old men

The problem with 5's, is that people see the stories about the £300 drift toys and the £400 bargains and forget that they're either rotten or the owner was incredibly lucky. (I knew the previous owner of mine).
Good ones will easily fetch £1500 and the top drawer ones much more. The cheap ones are normally cheap for a reason. I.e rot or neglect, but the one above doesn't seem a bad buy at all.
Sorry Grant - change a lightbulb or something so we can get back on track
