Default Gates belts fitted at manufacture?
Hi folks,

Picked up a very low mileage car for my son, less than 10,000 miles (wee old lady scenario..). Planning on doing the belt asap as I presume it has never been done, but don't know for sure. Popped the top cover off and the belt fitted is a gates powergrip. Just wondered - could this be the original belt? Did Citroen fit gates at the factory?

Gates are probably the most common belt supplier to OE.

Thought as much. Probably the original belt then. 7800 miles but 15 years old.... better get it changed!

oem in psa group is typically Dayco.

anything peugeot/citroen boxed I have fitted have been Dayco as well.

Yep, Dayco for OEM. Gates means it's been changed IMO.
