How do you know yours is absolutely standard? It may have had a new gearbox fitted and the replacement may have been a VTS box, which has shorter ratios. Unless you have EVERY single receipt for all the work carried out by previous owners, then you cant be sure its standard.

condition of the engine, your friends may not be able to drive. Usually the case with most people imo not saying your friends are like that, lot of people round here get saxo's, constantly think they are the bollocks and drive fast (in straight lines)

But yet they cant drive when it comes down to it really. Never see them on track days etc

Shouldnt be street racing anyway

Its down to how you can drive and how shagged your engine is at the end of the day. i'm constantly outdriving faster cars because i know the breaking points of my grip!

it depends on how much of a hard life their engines have had.
also some cars come out of the factory at different settings than the 90bhp or 98bhp as stated in the manual.
my vtr is quicker than my mates, maybe just cause its ecu is slightly different!
