Ok cool, somewhere on that page, there should be a box called passphrase. Enter a word in there such as marcusd and save it. There should be then 4 keys displayed on that page, that is whats known as the WEP key

The transmit key refers to which of the 4 keys you'll use to connect. So for example, in that setup i showed above, the key that you woul enter in your laptop when prompted would be FAE77E1009. If the transmit key was set to 4 then you'd enter DC3F57764E

Changing the passphrase changes the encryption keys

Maybe it's worth getting a new router?
I have this one, £28 and wireless N, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Buffalo-AirS...801034&sr=8-13

Can be flashed with DD-WRT too.

True, was one of my initial thoughts for him. Not a fan of buffalo though tbh. I always prefer to work with Cisco (Inc Linksys) and Netgear equipment.. I think DD will be past his requirements though.

Possibly, But I always find the standard firmwares a bit pap. Helps with fixing some issues as it has such a large community you normally find someone who has had the same problem.

My buffalo has been solid, can't say i've had any issues with it.

The site is right, WEP is basic encryption. If you can secure to to at least WPA (as some devices have issues with WPA2) then that would be ideal

ah missed that, set it to WPA-personal. that will get rid of the RADIUS server - thats enterprise level and you don't have a radius server!
