Bluray Player - Saxperience

Morning gaylords.

I've recently got a new TV and I want to get the best out of it.

Currently I use my PS3 to play blu rays. Would a dedicated blu ray player give me a higher quality picture on the TV?

No, from what i have read the PS3 is a very capable bluray player!

Its not the greatest but I doubt theres a massive difference. Main problem with bluray players is they are a bit slow, but thats down to the decryption access. I've got mine plugged in with optical cables and HDMI to make sure the sound and picture quality is as good as i'm going to get as well.

The standalone sony bluray player i have is dreadfully slow, i think its maybe a couple of years old now, but just turning it on takes an age!

As said, the PS3 has a very good Blu Ray player built in, I reckon you'd only see a difference if you went with a ~ £500+ player through shit hot cabling with a mains

I would not even consider a PS3 for BRD playback. The reason is that the playstation draws half a kW when a regular player will be 25-30 watt.
