Unlocking sony ericsson C702
Got one of these the other day but when i put my sim card in its coming up as "inactive sim" on the screen so im guessing its locked. Anyone know the best way of getting it unlocked and a rough price if cost involved
cheers

Take it to your local mobile phone shop (ideally something thats not like Carephone warehouse etc.)
Usually about £5 to unlock them.
Not to sure if CPW unlock them or not. But know your local little shop would do it for a small fee.

Takes about 2 minutes.
They just open it to all networks.
However, there is no come back on it. So if your phone then fucks up you cant take it back to them etc.

Sure the phone hasn't been blocked?
Get him to try his 02 contract sim in it to see if the phone still works.

Wouldnt have thought they would block it unless he told them to though. Would a phone shop still be able to sort it or do i need to get him to give o2 a ring ? He's back down in portsmouth now on his navy training so cant try the sim

well inactive sim can mean that either the sim card is not activated or the sim card inserted is not for that fone (meaning that it is locked to a certain network) i doubt its blocked though

i think inactive sim in a sony ericsson means its a blocked phone, which you cant unblock at all. that is if it does what i asked and functions fully apart from not picking up signal

Thats what its doing its got reception an everything works but says inactive sim in the middle and wont let me make calls or texts. He got an upgrade so i got this off him cant see why they would block it though. Ill have to get him to chase them up about it or i havnt got a phone last ones buggered

did your sim card work fine in your last phone? try a couple of sims in this new phone both o2 and others, try yours in another phone as well. get him to call o2 and say its been blocked because they should only do that when its reported lost/stolen. if he has reported it lost/stolen then im afraid theres no way around it as it will never work in this country again.

yep get the sim checked out in another phone first if u dont have a phone borrow a family members phone and if the phone is barred or blocked it wont work in this country and if it isnt unlocked, dual band or tri band it wont work in any other country either!
