My dream setup was always a pair of CDJ400's, DJM900 Nexus mixer, a crazy FX board & then a killer sound system... shame it would cost about £3000 to do

Do you DJ at club level or something? I couldn't justify having that much £ of kit

yh tis true , but try and find a versatile range of modern vinyl . Ive always been laptop/and cdj . usb turntables ftw . club dj'ing is out the window for me nowadays . not enough money in it . to justify . when i can do a wedding for 300 and do half the work of mixing .

In my books;

Wedding DJ's - Virtual DJ
Scratch/ Club DJ's - Serato
Gay DJ's who love a million sound filters to make them sound epic- Tracktor
Real DJ's - A piece of vinyl per track and can scratch the record up with no software.

Real Djs dont use vinyl now because most tracks are not produced on it.

Scrtatching doesnt make you a proper DJ, being able to beat match is something alot of people cant do which is why they rely on software.

CDj2000s are the way to go, dont even need CDs with them with the USB/SD card slot built in, we have 6 2000s hooked up at work. Ultimately though most consumers there is no point, but in a club (a decent club where its a decent dj not just some cunt with a mixture of cds from diff genres).

Vinyl is more than dead, it's past dead lol, has been for about 4 years.

I wish I could afford some 2000s and a 900, but unless youre a superstar DJ, you dont need that kind of equipment, 800s and a half decent 4-channel mixer will do.

900s out have a lot of the new software/features so they're a good punt instead of 2000s.
