Hiya all, just been looking at the pics on p1 of this thread.I got a vtr 2001 98bhp (i assume) as it has the lambda sensor in the manifold.
Right my problem is though, is for some unknown reason my rad fan (which is housed in a double fan getup) is catching my bonnet when it kicks in.Its about 2-3 mil from bonnet when bonnet down, but when it kicks in then starts to catch against the bonnet.
Now after looking at the pic up front it has a complete diff fan setup to mine.
What is supposed to be on a vtr 2001, a double fan housing or single.
Its getting so i only travel lightly and hope that i don,t get caught in any jams for to long.

The saxo vtr was produced with 3 different engines.
these are as follows
1 - 1996-1998 Blacktop cover = 90bhp
2 - 1998-2001 Silvertop cover with catalytic convertor under the car, 1 plug ecu = 90bhp
3 - 2001-2004 Silvertop cover with catalytic convertor in manifold, 3 plug ecu, = 98bhp
as you can see the two silver tops can be seen differently from the location of the dipstick, the inlet system and the fact its a 3 plug ecu.

at the moment i have a vtr black top and just brought a silvertop what will i have to do for engine swap???

All S engines came at 120 bhp.
Later ones (01+) had a different ecu, with extra emission controls.

ABS was an a factory option on the VTR, so some do and most don't!
Year doesn't make a difference!

my car is a mk1 1999 so that would put it as the 90bhp model but my engine looks more like the 90 bhp one,
is that just the appearance, my dipstick is on the same side as the 90bhp model

This is weird for me as it states 2001 is the year the engines changed? Yet my Saxo VTR 2000 (X) has the 98bhp engine with 3 plug ECU and correct throttle body & air filter... ??
