Give it a squirt with some wd40 or try knocking it at an angle with a long screwdriver/pipe (i actually used a long piece of threaded bar) and a hammer to dislodge it & then you can manoeuvre it with the screwdriver to get it out!

Just done this at the weekend infact - total pain in the a*se

Yes - oval retaining washers on both ends of the torsion bars - spray plenty of WD-40 into the slot and try tapping at an angle with a hammer and screwdriver on the edge of the washer's internal hole.

Tried that but I just seemed to be making a square impression into the torsion bar, didnt want to knacker the teeth up, or the thread hole. I'll get a bigger hammer...

put an axle stand by the torsion bar, balance a pole on the axle then whack it very hard and pray it budges a bit
