Cheers mate. As it turns out they’re really bright and quite annoying at night when you’re getting in/out of the car. But they look really good and really light up the seats. So we’re thinking of changing the circuit so they operate on a switch rather than with the doors.

Myself, Nathan and James, along with a few other friends and colleagues are Going Sober for October next month in support of Macmillan. If you fancy showing your support, below is a link the Team PWS page where you can donate directly to Macmillan. We’re currently ranked 5th in the Nation (although we are in the very early stages of the challenge):

https://www.gosober.org.uk/team/teampws

Along with donating to Macmillan, we’re also going to be using the money we would’ve spent on beer to invest in to the Saxos. So expect some big changes.

This week, with the help of our friend Mark, we fitted some new J&R driveshafts, Mintex disks and pads and changed the gearbox oil.

Unfortunately the previous owner had left us without the locking wheel nut key. We tried to resolve it with a Halfords locking wheel nut remover, but broke the tool.

The next day we travelled to our local Citroen dealer, who kindly gave us all of the locking wheel nut key combinations to try.

None of the keys fit, so we went back to Citroen, who welded some large bolts on to the wheel nuts so we could remove them. We’ve kept the last one as a bit of a souvenir.

Once the wheel nuts were out, we could crack on with changing the driveshafts and brakes.

The car drives loads better. There are no more knocks from the front when turning, and we used to get a grinding noise from the rear calliper, which has also been resolved.

It's getting there. Slowly but surely.

Unfortunately not - we have ramps but obviously they’re no use when the wheels are off. We need to get some really, especially for these sorts of jobs.

Yeah that pic of you / a lad under the car made me cringe. Only because I've had a jack fail on me before and had a Golf crush me! Good progress anyway mate, dailys look nice too.

Sounds frightening. I’ve been working under a car in the past when it has moved or rocked and it does make you nervous. We put a wheel under the side of the car at least.

We also got round to wiring in the new boot lid this weekend, but we’ve come across a problem. It seems everything on the boot lid works with the exception of the rear wiper. Maybe coincidently, the front wipers don’t work either, despite having changed the wiper assembly. So there’s an issue with the wiper system which we need to resolve.

At the same time, Nathan removed the front bumper and fitted the black fog lights. Whilst doing this, we took the opportunity to investigate why the front end looks misaligned and found that the driver’s side wing was completely rotten and all of the brackets had completely rusted though. Luckily we had a spare wing we had picked up from danny-vts which we fitted as a temporary fix. The front end now lines up perfectly and sits much better.

Sober for October is well underway. If you’re feeling generous, slip cheeky donation to Team Project Wedding Sax (link below). We have some treats on the way with all the money we’re saving by not buying beer.

Seriously guys please don't work under a car just on an hydraulic jack I know it's not always fun to be sensible but use axle stands, they are cheap enough.

We slide the spare wheel under the sill as a precaution, in case the jack fails. We do need to buy some stands though.

I was getting nervous last night when adjusting the handbrake. The rear was on ramps with the front wheels chocked but I kept thinking if this moves Im going to have a saxo tyre shaped gouge across my middle.

Progress looks good. Nothing like working on your car yourself.
