Explain why members cant use forsale/wanted sections
Think something needs to be done for the people with not enough posts etc.
Instead of giving them the page that says something like:
"your not special enough to view this"
why dont we try and get it so it somehow links them to a page which explains fully why they cannot view/access it.
Or something like that, do you see where im coming from?
Or give me Lock powahs and ill keep my eye on them

EVERY new member gets a pm stating the rules. THere is also the announcement at the top of every page.
Soon there will be a new message that will sit at the top of the page for newbies.
Regardless of whats done there will still be the same posts because its +1 on the post count

In my opinion new members should not have the for sale section on their forum homepage so they stop asking, and make it automatically visible to them after their post count reaches 100.

In addition on the ERROR page, which memebrs see when they dont have sufficient posts, etc it ACTUALLY tells them WHY they cant see the post/forum... people are just too lazy to read.

Been a while since I viewed that error page so dont know whats on there exactly all I know is it asks for your username and password?
Anywho, obviously because I can see it I didnt know if anything was actually FORCED on the n00bs, hence the reason I asked. Clearly it is and they're just been lazy as you said.

Used my brothers account... And it says
'Your not authorized to view this'
Similar to that.
IMO, maybe a brief paragraph or something that way they HAVE to read it in a sense.
Maybe:
Quote:
CAN'T VIEW THIS? Read why:
100 posts and 30 days of being on Saxperience are required due to the rising number of our members being scammed
|
Then the link for the newbie post thing, or slight more info about a few more main points which i havn't looked into posting lol...

Proves youre too lazy to read too, as the last paragraph explains that forsale and wanted forums (specifically) have restricitons on number of posts and time registered...
I'll make those forums invisible and see how that goes...

i think invisible will make it worse as people will think there isnt one so will just post for sale threads where ever
maybe have the bit that tells them about posts and days registered in bold and red on that page?

I can edit the error message page to make it more in your face... but reckon we should try it like this, atleast for this evening.
If more threads end up in the erong forums, then plan C can come into force. lol.

Whats plan C?
I think the invisible mode for, forsale threads sounds good. Is it possible to force people to have read a brief paragraph before they start posting.
For example:
This forum's foresale section is not accessible to new members until they have had over 100posts and a membership longer then 30days.
Please DO NOT spam the forums with forsale or wanted thread as they WILL be locked and deleted.
Then a DO YOU AGREE box, which has a 60sec delay, so they cant click straight away, which should encourage them to read whilst waiting for the submit button to enable.
Or maybe this is too hard to implement.

I think people should be able to view the cars for sale, as they are less likely to mess around with something they have to physically collect, that's the main reason I joined because I knew 106owners for sale sections were useful so I though I could find a tidy saxo on here, but I ended up liking the forum anyway lol

This is plan C...
Any user who is NOT a regular member (100 posts / 30 days) shall see the following message at the top of all for sale or wanted forums... and still not be able to see thread content.
Hopefully this shall put this issue to bed... until the next time
