Just do a system restore. Takes you back to a preset date and all the pics should still be there.

Take it to a PC specialist, they should be able to get it back since the stuff isnt actually wiped off the hard drive totally, thats how the police catch all the paedo's etc who delete stuff

I would stop using your PC tbh, The more you use it the more chance the files are being overwritten.

If you can hook up your hard drive to another PC then run some recovery software.

Found a programe on the net called File Recovery from a site called Pc Tools and it's about 35 % though at the moment and by the looks of it it has found a few of the picture , so hopfully by the end of it it will find them all .

Worst thing you can do is install software on the affected machine.
It could end up overwriting half the stuff your trying to recover.

i would of recommended file scavanger! i used file recover and did nothing for me.
I lost gig's worth of stuff when i accidently reformated the wrong drive...
and file scavenger got everythign back.
(make sur eyou install program on the drive that isn't affected, runs smoother and you won't get problems)
Well done for getting them back though, hate that when that happens. but you always know that you can get them back 80% of the time. Just goes to show when u delete stuff formthe bin they arn't deleted
Only way to clean ur drive is a program called 'wipe' or something...

I was cleaning up all my stuff and putting everything into new folders and ihighlighted the wrong folders which had the pictures in , if you read the first post the settings of the recycle bin was that it would not hold any deleted items so when i noticed what i had done i changed the settings .

But now i have them all back i have copied them all onto disk .

Highlight a few files. Hold down shift, hit delete, let go of shift, hit enter. Takes all of about 2 seconds, and thats the files deleted. Doesn't put them into the recycle bin - just deletes them. Almost deleted things accidentaly myself a number of times as its done before you know it.

And as mentioned, you can turn the recycle bin feature off so things don't go there anyhow.

A hard drive has a Master Boot Record (MBR) that stores details on where each file is on the drive, and how big it is etc etc. When you delete things on your computer, you don't actually delete the data, you delete the reference to that particular file in the MBR. This is how the data can be recovered - as long as the data itself hasn't been overwritten through use/new files/defrag etc etc
