Default Broken Hardrive - Data Transfer?

Got a hardrive which is damaged but I want the pictures off it. Took it to PC World and 2 other PC places to see if they can get any data off it but they all said they can't due to it being bent so can't read it or something. One PC places said I'd be best to try a thing call data transfer but it can be expensive he said.

Anyone know anything about that data transfer and does it work?

If you have managed to bend the arm its unlikely that you will ever get the data off.

Basically inside there is a moving arm which is positioned just above the disk so it just avoids touching the disk which reads the data. If the arm is bent it will either be touching the disk or bent the other way and be unable to get data from the disk.

The only way of repairing it is a very difficult process that basically requires a manufacturer to disassemble the HDD, remove the disk(s) and fit them into a new casing with a new arm which all has to be done in a clean room which makes it very expensive and still it will only work if the disk hasn't been damaged.

One of the places I went to removed the top case thats bent and fitted a new one on that wasn't bent, but still couldn't get any data off it. So guess that the disc must be damaged then?
He said that someone who can do data transfer will take it apart and remove the data from the disc, can that be done?

It can be done but its not cheap. Depending on how badly its damaged it could cost anywhere from £200 to over £1500
