Default My 106 Stalls when anything electrical is used?!

As in the title, its fine while its being driven. But if the lights are put on, or the fan starts to spin, maneuvering into a car parking space while using the power steering is a pain the ass, If I put the radio on etc Its cuts out, any ideas? I can save it aslong as i dab the accelerator, however its starts to become a bit annoying after a while.

Its a 98 plate 1.4 XR 106, 48k

Any info would be much appriciated.

Alternator would be my first port of call.

So your saying the alternator is buggerd therefore when something electrical is used it isn't providing enough current to charge the battery, resulting in the engine stalling? Surely the stepper motor would up the idle slightly to compensate for this?

yea but if theres not enough power to spark a higher idle does nothing

Alternator mate. Correct me if I'm wrong but when the engines running everything is powered from it, the battery powers everything when it's not running. From what I remember from tech years ago your car will continue to run once started even if the battery is disconnected until you stall or turn the engine off.

Already been changed, but thanks for the input.

Is there anyway I can check how much power the alternator is dishing out compared to what it should be pumping out?

Thanks for the help by the way!
