sounds awesome mate! had loads of good comments. nice and rumbly low down, boomy higher up, roars near the top then rasps and pops when you lift off! really loud too. gets so many looks. especially off chavs and and grannies haha

lol thanks mate i would probably have an open induction kit on it if it didn't reduce performance. panel filter is near enough best thing you can fit though plus it's loud enough with the exhaust etc. maybe get an enclosed kit at some point though

thanks mate!
it was the saxperience north west rolling road day at awesome gti in manchester on saturday
mine made 118.9bhp at the fly, 107.54bhp at the wheels and 112.79 ft/lbs torque
= 20.9bhp over the standard 98 and best vtr of the day so i'm happy!
was mostly saxos plus my mate in his gti-6, a vts'd ax, a clio 182, williams and s2 escort rs turbo
plus a completely standard looking mk5 golf gti turned up at the end and got 315bhp haha. there was a 370bhp older shape focus rs sat there aswell but it didn't go on the rollers
tempting to cam and remap mine but think i'd rather 16v it. drove my mate's tuned vts most the way back, was a good laugh! pretty much neck and neck with my mate's 172bhp gti-6 on the motorway. still really fancy a clio cup though
few pics from the day
and a vid

cheers, chris

Beautifull car.
How much do you have it lowered front/rear?
What size alloys and tires do you have? ET value's, spacers etc.
Does it rub any?
Thanks.

thanks mate it's got 50mm eibach sportline springs on the front with the rear adjusted to match so i'd say about 50/55mm at the rear?
the alloys are 15" oz superturismos et 25 with 195/45 tyres, no spacers. did have 195/50 tyres but the tread rubbed the back of the rear arches on bad bumps and the front wheels rubbed on full lock. no rubbing at all now though ever. the inside of the rear tyres was rubbing the handbrake cables at the back but i've cable tied them out the way now and they don't touch
also got the standard 14" vtr wheels with 185/55 tyres and they don't rub either
cheers, chris

like the car my fav colour. look good. not a fan really of aftermarket wheels. my friend got 172 had lot of electric faults and eat front tyres. got a vts it ok. it you get one get one reg b4 march 31 2001 wise road tax 245quid. id keep youre vtr. or transplant a 16v lump abs expensive to repair one abs sensor 140quid inc labour i had one. year ago abs light on again. wouldnt buy another vts have a vtr next time. good mpg get 40mpg that 97 octance fuel or shell v power apart from the abs it a good car. wouldnt part with it.

best just remove the abs haha don't like it anyway!
would like some vts wheels as a spare set alongside the supert's but they're just too expensive and i'm pretty much set on a 172 cup now. got my eye on a minter aswell...
still tempted to 16v this but i'd end up spending loads on the engine, might as well spend loads on a 2.0 16v and have myself nigh on 200bhp!
buying a clio saves all the messing about with engine swaps aswell which i haven't really got time for at the minute!
