Default 206 gti brakes on a saxo

Hi, when i fitted the 206 gti brakes on my saxo, i noticed that one of the guide pins had a slot and a piece of rubber on it, but when i put it in the caliper with the boot, it was binding a bit so i put the pin in without the boot.

Does it have a specific role or am i good without it?

Im not experiencing any brake issues but i am just asking because i never saw a guide pin with a rubber boot.
