EML not on for dead throttle pot?
Hi All,
So my throttle pot has died. Tried to fix it and made it worse, so that now it is completely dead (open circuit). Prior to that it had a noisy output with resistance values varying wildly over the range.
What surprised me is that the Engine Management Light does not come on for this. The car idles at 2K and will not drive (as soon as you touch the pedal it dies), plus I also ran it with the throttle pot disconnected entirely out of curiosity and this didn't trigger the EML either.
The light on the dash comes on and extinguishes as expected during startup, so it's not a failed bulb.
Any thought why my ECU is so disinterested ?
