Well finally got the car to work today for a few jobs:

Fitted the vts front brakes
And fitted the rear Gearbox group n mount onto the car

Whilst the car was there and we weren't busy i got one of the MOT blokes to check over the car as if it were a MOT which it would of FAILED!

List of things i need to fix, replace for the MOT (Hopefully next week)

Front flexi hoses twisted
NS brake pipe corroded .........going to replace both pipes while i am there
Replace brake pipe clips to hold them inplace
Back brakes weren't too good on the rollers, (They would pass but going to adjust them)
OSF Headlamp loose (Look at whats up with that or replace headlamp)

But on a plus note........it passed the Emissions which i was suprised at!

Also a few other little jobs i need to do:

Fit the new water pump i've got
Replace cambelt and tensioner
Oil + Filter Change
Go to the scrappy as the Plug on the fan switch is snapped which means the fan only kicks in when the plug is securely on!

Hopefully get it MOT'd by next week, Cars stopping at work so its all ok.

Ste

Hello Ste,

Everything seems to be coming together really well now mate. It is a bit of a pain that it failed the 'MOT' but like some of the others said atleast they are relativley easy things to correct. I am seriously going to have to look at some engine mounts for mine, I am sure they are on their way out Joking apart one does look a bit fooked.

Yea nothing too bad really. Expected worse. I have already

removed the flexi pipes and got them sitting perfect now.
removed the corroded brake lines (Got copper piping just need the flaring kit)
Ordered all new clips to hold the brake pipes
Adjusted rear brakes (Drum was a bint to come off)

Will look at either fixing headlamp or just replace the bugger.

Hey Tim.Yea the MOT fail was to be expected as the car is a 15 yrs old. But its all fun and games keeps me busy and least now i know exactly what needs replacing/fixing. After i drove the car to work i love the mounts! Nice vibrations on tickover. Think you should look at investing in some.

Well after the car failing its Pre MOT test i set to work on fixing the problems.

And today it had a proper MOT and passed with flying colours which is all good!!

I have decided i want to replace the drum beam with a vtr/vts disk beam.
Hopefully got my hands on a Blacktop vtr engine.........only actually want the 1600cc bottom end.
Need myself some manual windows

Probably much more i want/need but can't think reet now!

Really like this xsi mate, looks in good nick for the age of the vehicle and it seems like it's in very good hands. Read the entire thread in Uni the other day only just got round to posting. Old school 106's really look at home on track.

Good motor bud

The aerial bung was from Peugeot parts numbers:

810192 - Seal - £0.76
810193 - Roof Plug - £1.70

Yea for such a small adjustment makes quite a difference. Also adjusted the VTS and been driving it about today. Xsi didn't need as much adjustment as the VTS mind!

Thanks alot for your comments mate! Was in a bit of a state when i first got my hands on it but its starting to take shape now. Bodywork isn't exactly mint but its going to get abused so not too fused. I was originally going to go for a 205 GTI but all the ones i was looking at were as wrotten as a pear!

When i got the car i changed head gasket, valve stem seals, reground valves. But i am hopefully picking up a 1600cc VTR Engine within the next week so i can have the block with less miles. As fair as i am aware these xsi's with cats are 95bhp standard.

WOAH

I am on a mission at the moment. Well as i've been made redundant from work and today was my first day off i was a bit lost so decided to work on the xsi.

Firstly i adjusted the tappets as it was sounding like an old typewriter!!! Sounds much better now.

Then i went onto adjust the shocks from non power steering to PAS Position:

Fitting my extinguisher finally:

I looked at my dodgy indicator stalk and i think i've cured that.

I decided start to hide the wires and make a place to mount some gauges:

I will hopefully finish that off tomorrow.

I also decided the car needed a wash as i have never washed the car and i've owned it since April!
