Website Help
Right I've just gone with JustHost and am proceeding to build my website.
What I want to know is can I do it from scratch and they host or will I only be able to use generic templates?!
I am trying to find the answer myself but thought I'd ask on here.

If you have ftp access to your website you can use any file/template you want.

what you want to do is go into ftp accounts create one. user, pass ect.
then you should be able to access it from an ftp programe, or webpage:
fttp://ftp.yoursite.co.uk
and type in your user and pass

in that folder will be all your main website files, home page being index.html or .php , images ect. all those files can be replaced with the template files you want. however i dont think you will be able to use the site builder when using your own template. You would have to look into getting some software to edit your files on your computer then uploading them to that folder.

Wow, I feel like I've certainly bitten off more than I can chew right now!
Do you mean like Dreamweaver?
Or when people doing coding on Notepad?
What would you do, upload the images to the FTP and then put the image code in the HTML code?!
AGRH!
Thanks for your help btw. Do you do this for a living?

i use dreamweaver because its alot easier as you can choose from coding or design view which is alot like the online builder but with alot more design features. you can link dreamweaver to the site so when you save your website on dreamweaver it will automaticly upload everything to justhost. what i do is have a folder on my desktop and edit the website from there using dreamweaver and then upload everything at once to justhost. aslong as you keep all the files for that site in the folder it will all work when you upload it.
i dont do it for a living but ive learnt over the years of doing my own sites. But the only way your going to learn is by doing it

Lol so you would recommend Dreamweaver then?
Do you just upload the DW file/folder to one place on the FTP?
Do you have any links to your sites?

I have DW but that seems a mission just to start a document. I did the Cafe tutorial ages ago when I was trying to self teach it.
I'll have a look at your websites.
Thanks again mate
