How do I do it? Lol well it starts with about a year of just playing around with your software (FL Studios) being my preferred device. Then comes the hundreds of crap attempts, then in the end, once you really know how to use your kit something just happens. That 1 that you love becomes structure for many more.
I'd also recommend popping on to YouTube and looking up some tutorials for your software, they've helped me in the past.
Happy to answer any more questions mate, just hope this reply wasn't too geeky for you! lol

as peebee said. You gotta find some software and play about. Play about until you hate music. Then one day you get a good noise, work somet out and think, maybe just maybe i could make a proper song. Then you check out some tutorials and get over ideas, then you mess about some more until you go Yeah ! This sounds good.... And then if you dont hit a brick wall you Can finish it lol.

As perfectly put before, you need to play with until you hate music, play with different VST's, learn how they work and what type of sounds they best produce, then you can start to bring them together. I try to consentrate on getting the beat sweet first, if the beat isn't right, the tune will not come together.
Tutorials on YouTube are fab for getting ideas.
At the end of the day, enjoy yourself!
