i always use the real player SP add on download vid then convert to mp3 etc always worked for me

Cheers for all the replies, will look into that dvdvideosoft jobby.
And manu, not being rude, but I literally couldn't give a fuck if these tunes aren't of the highest quality imaginable, they sound fine to me. I suppose it would be different though if you studied/ dj'd music for years

(Suit yourself due, at the end of the day it's free I guess) I must admit I do have a quality sound system, bad quality files will sound terrible on it. Some people said it best to me, close your eyes and feel like the band is really playing in front of you. Even more so when playing HD sound, hence why I don't recommend youtube rips. When it comes to cheapest of the cheap you can't go any lower...
Then on any system I can really hear the lack of quality on youtube, especially the sizzling highs and the lack of bass (no oomph whatsoever). What I could suggest to you is to try a song you own on a CD, then play the youtube rip, you may notice something. The problem with these converters is that they downscale and compress even further down to 128 kbps.
