Cheers lads, is frustrating not having the time or a shelter to do the work. I know it's possible in the rain but it's difficult to find the motivation when you're working in the rain etc too. Hopefully when the weather is bad I'll start doing something fun on the interior, I'm mulling over reupholstering the seats which I've no experience with so that'll be a laugh

Evening, bit of progress from me and some frustrations, as is life.

First off I recently bought a new welder, it's lovely and for this light stuff it performs as well as much more expensive kit that I use at work daily, really recommend if anyones in the market. Got them to chuck in a stick torch too

I had to quickly make a trolley to put it on as lugging the gas/welder around was doing my tits in... used the bin while doing this lol.

Used just scrap from some old gates and a bit of sheet I had in the shed, the total trolley build only cost me £12 for the caster wheels and a bit of chain

Back to the van.... I managed to get the door back on, not going to lie it was a pain in the arse and I'm really not looking forward to removing the other one for wing replacement. One of the bolts that I snapped while removing it I managed to drill out (I only snapped two drill bits fuck sake) then I had to retap it so started that... and snapped both the taps I had....awesome! It's my own fault for tapping the thread with a drill instead of by hand... impatience. So after removing two snapped drill bits, two snapped taps I was left with a half tapped hole so I thought ok, I've got enough thread to put in a bolt anyway.... tried this it was going well and the fucking bolt snapped. Now I'm left in exactly the same position as I was before with a fucking bolt snapped in the hole and wasted about 2 hours on the fucking thing arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

anyway the wing looks ok

It's not perfect alignment but that's because of the shitty mould fibreglass panel, it's a metric fuck tonne better than it was anyway.

My seat bases were both like this too, so they were removed anyway and I repaired them, gave them a coat of red lead and finished with a bit of white hammershite.

I cut out the last rot of the cabin floor too, under the drivers seat.

replaced with 1.6m steel, thicker than the original hopefully might last a bit longer.

welded / grinded (not finished)

Also I'd covered the whole floor in red lead primer, absolutely excellent stuff available from screwfix. Then covered in white, obviously this will be carpeted so it's just for protection but it look a lot better anyway!

Oh and to conclude, I removed one of the big units, hopefully remove the rest as I can refurb them in the house over winter, while the vans tucked under tarp!

cheers for reading

the rocker is now on (bottom half of the arch)

looking a lot better now from inside, all seams sealed and slathered in read lead.

Now it was freshly painted I could see water coming in from somewhere, I removed part of the dash and managed to trace it to the door pillar which basically means it's coming through the roof gutters. I'm going to fix this as it's simple and then take a look at the source of the problem at a later date.

started a new job and with winter/my laziness, expect progress to be very slow.

Also no pics but I was going to retrim the seats, I've bottled that and I'm going to pay an upholsterer to do it. Certainly not a job for me!

I'm along way from that yet but I'm going to roller it like the vw boys, I've seen some decent finishes achieved and obviously it's cheap and cheerful.

This was done with a roller and tbh it looks brilliant.

colour wise, I was thinking of going yellow similar to this although knowing me I'll change my mind about 50 times, what ya rek?

Like the yellow, I think it needs a bright paint job but nothing mental.
