Default Renault megane R26

Not had this long thought i'd do a progress thread / place to post pictures (looks like this section needs some new posts anyway )

Sold my 106 XSI recently because I needed something I could use daily, Almost left the french scene for a boring everyday car.. until I saw / read about these.. Didn't know they even existed (although i've had french cars for the last 7 years!)

Few pictures from the sale ad (shame he sold the plate seperate)

Quick phone pictures

Spec / mod list;

Forge dumpvalve
Milltek Cat back Exhaust
Milltek Decat
Panel filter
Forge front mount intercooler
Ds2500 pads
R26r spoiler
Team heko wind deflectors
Remapped to 254bhp / 300 ft-lb by zi motorsport

Being the R26 230 F1 it comes with LSD / Brembo 312mm / recaros / thicker anti-roll bars / TCS + ESP + Cruise + auto climate etc as standard

Taking it to RStuning in leeds next month for a service and overhall (bushes / balljoints / brakes etc) and top it off with a remap as with the same mods, others usually reach 280-290bhp and a limited 300 lb-ft - So i'm assuming it'll be down on power due to a rubbish generic map

Overall it's a great car to drive / be in, Still got the french agile feel even though they are quite heavy. Put's the power down perfectly - even with low tread / cold temps / wet roads

Will get some decent pictures once it's warmed up abit

Cheers Bedford, RStuning are rated highly - My local mechanic didn't understand a lower arm off a base spec megane wouldn't fit / the sport versions are only available from renault - also said the balljoint couldn't be changed and had no idea what a swivel hub bearing was

So put me off right away!

Side note - Bought the car be-badged, even had some of the F1 stickers removed (the ones off the roof and the doors, must of damaged paint work as it's had a complete respray / blow over)

So I put the newer Renault sport badge on and replaced the original side F1 team stickers, Also put on the R26 sticker but probs going to remove this as is doesn't look right IMO

Few parts that have been arriving over last few days;

Was going to go for Michelin pilot sport 2's or 3's but seen as the Avons are already on the car I didn't want to change all 4 when only the front 2 are worn - I've found the avons are amazing in the wet so don't mind keeping them (y)

I love these! Never seen one in white before! Looks great.

Ex work colleague had a liquid yellow one.

Hope to see more of this!

Thanks wasn't too fond of the looks / colour but looked past it for the handling, certainly growing on me though - Nightmare of a colour to keep clean! I literally rinse the (big)arse end everytime i'm back from a drive if it's wet to avoid the mud drying

I like the liquid yellow colour to, but it is abit loud / marmite - Mate has a LY clio that's having a meg engine transplant which should be intresting!

you still in a french car?

(y)

Will try to keep the thread updated

Yeah the rear end of these were always a bit of a marmite for me. But over time they have grown on me! I have heard they handle brilliantly standard. I bet it would be, being white and all!

Yeah you're right with LY I love the colour but not sure if I'd own one?

Your mates Clio sounds pretty nuts! Tell him to get on the forum

I'm in my old VTR that I sold about 4.5 years ago now. Bought it back rather cheap (£100) with everything on it from when I sold it.

Since spent a small fortune on it...

Will be good to see more of this!

Just a heads up, the only thing limiting you from getting to 300Bhp is the injectors, which I believe max out around the 280/290 mark.

You know it makes sense OP!

A fair bit done to the car;

Had a new windscreen fitted
Then had a local garage fit the parts i'd built up;
ball joint / tie arm
Front Avons fiitted
Brembo HC solid disks all round as the oem drilled had cracked on every hole!
Gearbox oil swap
Engine oil / filter

Finshed off with a fresh MOT & 4 wheel hunter alignment , Noticed one of the rear lights had condensation in which was annoying me - So got a replacement.

Been enjoying it ever since.. Gone though 150+ gallons of fuel in a few k miles

Postponed the injectors / remap and got my hands on a 7Kart instead, Took it to three sister's for 3 hour testing on Tuesday - Great fun!

Anyone else into Karting on here?
