'Cleaning' head
BIt of a strange question;
Basically, the head off my engine is complete, bar cams and covers, and has been stored in a box in the garage for 18 months. Its covered in dust and fluff and bits of shedded paper (box packing) which have got into all the nooks and crannies.
Obviously this will need cleaning off prior to bolting the head onto the engine block. The head is slightly 'oily' so everything is stuck to it, so cant just blow it off. Anything anyone can suggest to clean it down with?

If you are a premium member there is a guide on hear some where on how to get the head really shinny e.t.c if done correctly it looks quality.

i used brake cleaner on mine then just blow dry it with an air line works a treat on oil

Brake,clutch,carb cleaner is a good one... Why not get it port and polished? They will clean it down for you too lol!

Brake/clutch cleaner is a winner. No idea why I didnt think of that tbh lol

if you want a good claean put it in bath of some sort with petrol amd paint brush. Then airline dry, then repeat with brake cleaner as mentioned

Soak in tfr then pressure wash it off but then obviously make sure you it is 100% dry before putting it back on

to be honest mate im having same problem im just going to get it skimmed ported and polished for £60 it would be annoying building it all back up and something goes wrong

I'll agree with paraffin man, it's awesome stuff, I used it to clean alot of things then rinse it off
Or you could use something like jizer (swarfega) thus very good stuff, we sell alot at work to garages, that needs washing/pressure washing off as it's oil based I think
