'tagging' very very long shot
Just had an idea, well poached an idea. Facebook is one of these gay social sites (like myspace only minter). what happens is the when a photo is uploaded the people can 'tag' the photo's... basically what this means is that say landy, scott and snewham (just pulling names out of bag here) appeared in a photo then a point could be added to the photo that tags those people. then if people click on the profile it has a list of tagged photos
explained it badly  sorry!

Good idea mate could also use it to tag different people's cars so that people can identfy whose is whose in a line up

yeah they do something like this on dontstayin.com its called 'have you been spotted' and if theres a pic with you in it you just click on it and it tags it with your username.

i now what you mean ad, and it would be a good idea, but someone would have a long day sitting there tagging the thousands of photos on the sax-p server.
You could have a section on photos of your car and photos of you.
I think it would be a good addition to v4.
As for the question when will v4 be out, there is no real set date. It comes down to when mark and simo have completed it. They are both busy people who use some of what free time they have putting it together.
EDIT: those that understand may just be the people who use facebook and hence why they understand.

barrett, when you say about someone sitting there all day tagging photos.. one person wouldnt have, just do it yourself, and you wouldnt have to do it to every photo, just any you see that you can be arsed to tag. lol
i think its a good idea, it will help people at meets if they are shy to ask the person's username, etc..

When I first saw this thread I thought it would be a folksonomy request.
If I understand correctly, you want to be able to add "hot-spots" to the photos which can be tagged in some way? This is one of the first suggestions I've seen for a while that I don't think we had on the list 
Whether it'll happen I can't say at this time, but I've put it on the "requested features" list

you have the basics theres Ads but tagging is a little more tech that than
it helps searchers get better results, e.g google image search for a red ford escort, 1988 with white wheels and a spoiler, I bet you get nothing, but someone may have a photo of that indexed in google but named it car.jpg
so It wont show! Tagging the image allows atributed to be added to it such as, red, white wheels and spoiler, if you get what I mean?
