Default Greedo - Incorrect items

Hi guys

A short while ago, I purchased some low comp forged pistons from this seller for £300 + fuel for collection, they were advertised as a straight fit with no need for a re-bore, but when we come to fit them, they wouldn't slide inside the bore of the block, meaning that they were oversized and not standard bore like he advertised

Before and during the sale, he seemed very helpful and easy to deal with, so I ended up giving him positive feedback on this site, but when I text him afterwards to say to him that the pistons don't fit, and I wanted them refunded, it seemed like he was just trying to sweep the situation under the carpet... making up excuses why he can't refund me. He said he was skint and couldn't afford to give me a refund, so I said to him that I was willing to wait until the end of the month when he next gets paid if it helps him out, and since that text, I haven't been able to get hold of him at all

As I paid by cash, I've realised that I'm now very unlikely to get my money back, but I want to warn any other users of this site about this seller before they consider buying off him, just incase the same thing happens to them

Thanks for reading

If he needed an excuse as to why he couldn't refund the money then he clearly knew he wasn't telling the truth in the ad.

People who have a clear conscience wouldn't need an excuse, they would refuse a refund based on being factually correct.

Yeah you are right mate, his excuses mainly revolved around being busy and having no money, hence why I said I would wait until he got paid at the end of the month so he could find a bit of time and was able to pay me back..... strangely enough I can't get hold of him now

He's also saying that he sold them on the information that was told to him when he bought them, as he said that he never got round to fitting them.... sounds like he's trying to pass the blame on someone else me thinks

Yeah I could pay him a visit which I will probably do as an absolute last resort, 180 odd mile round trip though... that's a lot of fuel, especially when im relying on mates for lifts at the moment, and paying him a visit doesn't guarantee getting my money back

We'll see though, I can kick off and go completely fucking nuts at him, but £300 is a lot of money to have lying around and it's still a wasted journey if he doesn't have it

I haven't, that's about what they're worth, plus I don't have £600 odd to bore the block out hence why I wanted standard size pistons

That would of probably of been £60 per bore though at that price though

But why the fuck should I have the hassle of getting the bottom end re-boored, and spend even more money making something fit that I was told was a straight fit?

£300 for used pistons
£120 for new rings
£100 for rebore is £520

New pistons I correct size is £500

It's normally about £20 per pot for cylinder bore mate, you'll need at least a light hone anyway for the new rings to bed in

Cheers for working that out mate, they come with good rings on them anyway so I would of re-used them of I could of fitted them.... but the pistons have got to go anyway, as I ended up having to fork out on a new engine because of this situation just to get my car back on the road

Just a shame the seller won't do the decent thing...

Mate it's not a win situation, I specifically double checked with the seller that they were standard bore because I can't afford to have any more bottom end work to the car, I ended up having to borrow money to sort the situation out

So now, I'm basicly stuck with a set of oversized pistons and money to pay back because some prick couldn't be honest with the sale

youd need new rings unless they were new regardless mate..they score to the shape of the block they were in

could fail or blow in n another engine..always replace rings
