Default Alternator wiring

Alright lads, as previous posts ive made ive just dropped a new engine into my westie (VTR engine with loom) and ive had to put the VTR loom in as the main ecu plug was different, ive also noticed that the alternator connectors are different to the alternator wires on the westie loom, now what my question is will i be able to make my westie alternator work with this loom it has a 2 pin plug and the B+ wire that bolts on to it, but on the loom ive got on it now it has 1 single green wire and a B+ wire? can i make the alternator work or not? Cheers Lee

Attach the green wire on the 2pin plug to the single wire on the loom.

This is what I've done in the past and worked fine

Im 99% sure I used the green wire. I just left the pink wire blank, just sealed up the end of it to stop any potential shorting.

The plug/wire just lights the battery light on your dash when your battery isn't charging properly.

all the alt does is charge the battery...it does nothing to anything else, the plus, as said above is just to give you the light on the dash to say the battery is going tits up.

the plus? i thought it was the pink wire on the plug that gives the warning light on the dash lol because raunchz said hes tried it and it works off the green wire? lol

I attached the green wire from the plug to the loom and my battery light function works fine. It comes one when's battery isn't being charged enough and stays off when everything is working. This is using a westcoast alternator with a vts loom. Wire colours might not be the same. I can tell you whether I've connected pin 1 or 2 if you have different coloured wires.

If you're unsure, just unplug the ecu when your soldering etc. The ecu should be fine though.

yeah the westie colour wires are pink and green going into the plug, so like you said yeah just connect the single green wire which comes off my vtr loom onto the green wire on the westie alternator plug and this will work fine, and wont blow anything?
