Default Power steering/ Heater Problems

Hey guys,

Man what a headache... Car was fine this morning, until i started to go home my heater didnt turn on, so checked fuse, that was ok. So i de-iced the windscreen and tried to go home, until i tried the steering wheel the power steering had gone.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ive checked Powersteering fluid, fine. Checked relays, gave them a wiggle and tookem out and put back in again. I will get the haynes manual or if someone can point the right one out for me and replace it regarding heater problems.

As for the power steering, i cant understand how the steering and the heater could go at the same time, im only assuming it did.

If anyone can help that would be awesome otherwise RAC are comming out tomorrow.

Cheers guys

Mach

Yea i did see that thread in the search earlier, i will have to consider once the RAC guy has been.

Ive read a few threads and there all mixed really, some saying relay, power steering pump, alternator if its the relay then great, but i cant see it being the power steering and the heater fan(?) + back window heater on the same relay. I maybe wrong. A few people ive asked say it could be a wiring fault somewere.

Im speechless really cos my old man drove it for the first time and it goes tits up. Talk about coincidence or what.

As above the guy is right. That sorts the problem completely! If you use the correct wire then it should sort it longer then the Saxo lives. It sorted my Saxo after I spent over £200 on Auto Electricians looking at the car and being clueless! Its not the Relay, its not the alternator, its the ignition barrel. Unless you want to spend hundreds on getting new locks and ignition barrel to run off 1 key, this is the best way. £3 fixes it.

Well the RAC guy did this for me and stuck a 20amp fuse on it, so he recommended doing that just incase it burns something out.

Ive had this problem.

Water collected inside the heater motor casing and corroded the terminals, thus shorting the circuit that the power steering, heating and ignition run off.

Some how there's is a damn leak inside.. no idea where..

I think my citroen guy did the same as above, but replaced the heater motor too and drilled holes in the casing to allow any water to drain.
