Default Car radio resets settings when turning car off?

Hello,

Since I've fitted my Sony CD Player in my car, I noticed that the settings always reset after turning the car off (Radio channels, what it was last doing etc).

I've read that this is because where you connect the 2 black cables to the car, these may need swapping around.

I have tried swapping these but they don't fit if I swap them.

Then people are saying to swap the yellow & red wire.. Is this safe?

Haha

I will check this when I get home from work.. So it's not the 'big connector' pieces that I'm swapping, it's the wires inside the connectors?

For example;

Am I changing the red and yellow wires on the black adapter piece?
