POWER

There are a few ways you can wire up the power lead, cars with the quick release clamp will have to be replaced with a clamp with a bolt or even a specific one designed for amps which are widely available from any good ICE store or ebay, cars without the quick release can be wired onto the bolt and tightened up with the bolt, the other way is how i did it and is probablies the most easiest and common way of doing it, i know some people might disagree but ive had a power lead on here for about 3 years

First of all you have to get the lead from car to engine bay, picture of the grommet and informtion can be found here

You also need a fuse on the lead within about a foot and half of the battery

1) Disconnect the battery

2) Locate the Small fuse box cover

3) Unclip the the cover off and undo the 10mm bolt, the wire is connected to the nut

4) Put the power lead over the bolt and put the wire/nut back and tighten

And thats it

EARTH

Most people use this method, its probablies the easiest way of earthing

1) With the battery disconnected still, lift up the rear seat like this (if you have a solid rear bench flip it up and take out to make it easier)

2) Locate the bracket

3) Undo the 10mm bolt and sound down the paint to bare metal

4) Put on the earth lead and then tighten the bracket back over like this

Last step is to connect everything to the amp, remote wire goes from headunit and is usually a blue wire, and is labeled up or information on which one it is can be found in the manual, now its just a case of connecting the battery back up and adjust settings on amp and headunit to suit your ears

Hi there... complete noob here.... Could you post a pic of where you have the live wire to the sub going from the engine bay to the boot?... Ive managed to get all the other wires back there but cannot get the live cabe through?

Where can we stick the live wire on a mk2 saxo?
My VTR does not have that nut in the fusebox

Maybe I was looking at the wrong fuse box, will check in a min. Too bloody hot to be wiring this up today lol.

It must have! Mine has, and thats a mk2 VTR!

Look again.

If you really havent got it, then you can buy aftermarket battery clamps, which is the best way to do it anyway tbh.

Ok, wired up just as described above.

Every time I plug the amp in it blows its 25A fuse

Using a splitter in-line so I can remove the sub when need be, came with the amp / sub.

Any ideas at all are welcome?!

isn't the wre going from the battery to the fuse box 8 awg so you would only be running a power rating of 8 awg even if using 4 or 0 awg wouldn't be better to run it direct from the battery as its just as simple

Could well be right mate, never actually though about that, still works fine though, its all about the earths though, upgrade them and it will be fine

Its such a short run that the millivolt drop on the cable is minimal. I shouldnt think it would mater that much as long as you use higher gauge 4 or 0 for the longer run to the boot.
