HI JUST WONDERING IF WHAT I HAD HEARD WAS TRUE ABOUT THE R5 TURBO BEING NO GOOD FOR THE SAXO ENGINE CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME PLEASE? I HAVE HEARD THAT THE BEST TO FIT ARE GARRETT T2 OR T25 TURBO IS THIS CORRECT ALSO? THANKS IN ADVANCE:oops:

the R5 turbo is a T2. there are different variations of each T number turbo though. the R5 1 will prob be a bit small though. you will need 1 from a car that has an engine with similar flow rates to yours. depends on how, when and how much boost you wnat to run.

As said the T numbers do not mean that much as for instance the T3 came on everything from the mundane 90bhp metro to the fire breathing 200+bhp Ford cossie. But as you may guess there totaly diferent turbos even though there both still T3s. But that said Garrett T series turbos are old and generally not used these days. You really have to match the turbo to your engine specs. The R5GTT turbo unit would probably at a guess be more at home on a 1.4 Saxo. But you do have to sort out compression ratio and fueling as you can not just bolt a turbo on a engine.

Any ideas what would be the best turbo to put on to a saxo vts then mate because am fancying the conversion i have a vts engine waiting in the garage

go to somewhere like carworx or GMC and get a system thats designed for your engine> It will save a lot of hassle in the long run as its less lickely to blow up
