Ryan

Right guys im off of work now for a month because of an operation ive had, and want your input, obviously there is a good few stickys, and FAQs here.
but what else do you think the section needs to run more smoothly and less cluttered?
eg throttle bodies/supercharging/turbo chargine FAQ threads.
threads on places for mapping with numbers? and location
etc...
all input appreciated please guys!
mods pm me if you feel this should not be here.

I think a turbo/bodies/supercharger faq would be quite useful for reference.
Also maybe a cams thread, listing what cams fit what models, possible power gains and prices etc if thats possible.

k thanks for input, just want ideas, and will also be speaking to people who have good knowlege on set areas to see if they would be willing to have a large ammount of input.

I think a sticky about different cams and follows and re-maps as this gets asked all most everyday. If you could add prices and place to buy cams and where to get re-maps done that would stop alot of cam threads being started.Plus i would like to know more about what cams are good for what ect.

there is a cam sticky s;)

Yea i know but it dosent tell you much about what cams there are and where to buy them from. There is nothing telling you about where to get re-maps from and how much they cost.I thought it would be a good idea to make a new sticky or add onto the one there all ready is,as there are always questions being asked what cams to get or where can i get a re-map done and how much will it all cost me.It goes on and on and would save alot of new threads being start in this section, and save itsafastworld aswering the same questions day in day out.
Thats just my thought tho.

id like everyones collective input though. the forum is about a group effort not just an individiual, so if people have had maps for example they would need to poist it in 1 thread thats started, quoting for example, engine, mods, price of map, location and - power after.
then whoever is the moderator can edit the thread into one etc..

info about cams (reccomendations for all models), head work, mapping (like standalone etc), reccomended rolling roads, recommended companies for engine work, info on diffs (quaife), info on turbos, superchargers and throttle bodies (benefits of each etc)
cant think anymore

I think a definitive thread on various fuels would be good.
obivously this means some mofo doing about 3 tanks full of esso, shell, BP (rip off bastards), tesco, sainsburys, vpower, bpultimate etc. etc
loads gets asked about it but still i get told the premium fuels work really well with an ecu only capable of mapping to 97RON :err:

lol ad erm going a bit far there, but if someone is willing to do it and write a report on it they are more than welcome to do so.

just throwing ideas into the ring... hopefully it might spark another suggestion which will be better and so on
Ryan
8th September 2007, 11:48
all ideas are welcome, i think its important to have as much input from all members.
you could have a few of us write the guides, but it would be seen as biased etc...
so id like as many people as possible to give good input

I think the guides on exhausts could do with being rewritten tbh... although an interesting read, it opened a can of worms lol
I could do with rewriting the MPG guide... but that'll have to go on the back burner till after chrimbo.
air filters...
Oils...
Fuel additives...
manifolds (i.e. the associated variations in the torque profile with the type of mani chosen)
that's all i can think of
Ryan
8th September 2007, 12:05
ill think about the exhaust guide, or ill just edit some parts on it that could be seen as causing more problems.

I could do yeah, what you got in mind? a basic run down of what is needed parts wise and cost?
One other thing for 16vs something about the hydro tappets if they are noisy what to do etc.

Could start like a wikipedia sort of thing going… could just open some skeleton threads with brief guides about cams, turbos, supercharging etc and have a discussion underneath… so the 1st post is constantly updated so there’s no BS or wrong info… if all pros on each subject would read and make comments underneath that would be good…
Then all the relevant and correct information would be there on a plate and you wouldn’t have to read the entire thread to find out what you need… put all pics in the 1st post also…
Also there are loads of different how to guides… some well written and some not so well but with pics… would be nice to get all the photos into a well written thread and in the 1st post of it…
A thread that just lists all mods and power would be ace… perhaps in ascending order of ¼ mile times or bhp or a lap time of a certain track… something as a benchmark for performance…
I don’t mind starting a gearbox thread similar to that on ssc when I’ve got the time to type it all out…
A few ideas of possible stickys that could eventually turn into detailed articles related to saxos…
Turbos
Superchargers
Throttle bodies
Engine conversions
Remaps and standalone ECUs
Cams
Filters
Exhausts
Clutches
Gearboxes
Differentials
Suspension
Brakes

well when you get some time and write anything pm me and let me know once done i can sort it out.
the plan is like you say to have like a little database of information for users to use.
suspension and brakes alex wrote so think thats fine for the time being.

every convo i had with this bloke has been telling me that getting a diesel is pointless as they are crap on the track... :err:
i thought I was driving a road car...
and PS.... at Le Mans, with a derv, 2 years running, Audi, and Came 1st... should be able to string a sentence together with those words

AMLMs where the audi is currently being spankeg by the LMP-2 porche.
Audi at le mans could use what fuel they wanted (eg they produced it) the rest had to use normal pump fuel.
anyway back on topic

was hoping nobody would twat up my argument mentioning the fuel on the R10...
:wall:
one my mates works with a racing team and a colleague of his claimed he saw a bit spill on the floor and within a couple of mins had vapourized. funny sort of diesel then.
