right
would a manifold with the built in cat fit on a early mk2 engine with the cat under the car.
reason im asking is i have to have a de-cat or it just hits the ground going on to my drive and does the cat no good. and also i cant be bothered with the hassle of having to put the cat on when it comes to the mot any more!
i no ur all going to say well its only once a year, but ders also another reason, just recently the police have been stopping people and checking to make sure people have the cats on.
cheers in advance

the CAT is only in the downpipe isn't it? can you not just bolt on the downpipe onto the early VTR manifold?

Most of the after market manifold's I've seen dont come with a CAT in the manifold as I suspect it would hinder performance too much.
You car must be really low for a de-cat to make contact with your drive etc...

If your going to get a cat-manifold you will need around the 500-600 note mark, as I also looked into this. Then I thought "Why am I bothering?" as it's a performance upgrade. So why spend 600quid on something that won't give as good gains as a normal 4-2-1 or 4-1 manifold. Im getting my Piper 4-1 fitted thursday, my MOT is due in may so I wil have to change it then. Or find someone I can bribe

his CAT (currently under the car) won't be scrapping on the drive.
Basically he wants a late MK2 full exhaust from manifold to backbox.
So Cat in Manifold then straight through
rather than Manifold, CAT then centre section

i dont want a de-cat, i'd put a supersprint on once ive got the later vtr cat on! just wanna no if the later vtr one will bolt on to a early mk2!! like baz has said

Ok just seems alot of hassle, why not just chop the drive!!:A: Probably be a cheaper option

Ok well what type oil filter have you got? cause that will be the main issue the actual clearance

standard oil filter?
Baz

it will be the MK1 oil filter so shouldn't make any difference, would matter if its was a late MK2 oil filter anyway

Well if the oil filter is the same and it has two lamba sensors then it should be a straight fit, but you may want to wait for someone to confirm it
