This one I can hlep with....
Best thing to do is push the power steering pipe down (after upcliping) so it appears the otherside of the pipe is next to, which I think is a coolant hose. Then simply cable tie out of the way:y:

use foam between the bolts to give a bit of leeway or cable tie, if its like the green it may break.
you know i might not get out of bed till monday:P

you get a metal bracket to move the power steering pump, and then as for attachin it to slam panel i fink alot of people bolt another metal braket to the slam panel then attach the intake to the metal bracket

Is this the VTR kit your mate has got? i.e. the one without the VTS logo.

I have just fitted the raceland kit to my VTR. It is a bitch to fit. Basically you need to move your PAS bottle out of the way first. dont leave it flapping around but cable tie it to something, Anything.
I used the bracket that comes with the kit and bent it a bit so that i could attach it to the back of my alarm siren, then bolt the PAS bottle to it.
As for attaching it to the slam panel. Dont bother trying. i had to use some L shape bits of steel. one of them is attached to the actual engine block, the other is attached to the slam panel, with the filter then attached to that.
I will take some photos when i get home from work that will explain everything much better.
They do fit though, needs a bit of thought and some extra little bits but it is well worth it, and whats the fun in just buying something and it fitting perfectly straight off (i wish).

just move the PAS bottle. Have to do this for most of the enclosed induction kits for the 106 as space is at a premium.
