Presuming nothing goes wrong and service history is kept up to date with oil changes every 6k (as i do)....what sort of mileage (if any) would be the sort of mileage to consider an engine rebuild?

Just wondering as my vts approaches 70k, runs lovely (touch wood) but you know........i worry lol.

cheers

Standard internals? Cams etc?

Modern engine is good for 150k at least i'd say as long as its well looked after, maybe more if motorway miles!

My view is you dont need to worry until you've at least doubled your current millage. I owned a 178000 mile 205 gti and it was still going strong when I scrapped the car for having too much rust..

Its not the bottom end thats the problem its the internals in the head that will wear out quickest..
