Hey,

Oil change after work tomorrow, got filter, oil:

Thinking of going for this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_23 0747_langId_-1_CarSelectorCatalogId__CarSelectorGroupId__varien t__categoryId_77306_crumb__parentcategoryrn_77306

Or will this be good enough: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_19 7033_langId_-1_CarSelectorCatalogId__CarSelectorGroupId__varien t__categoryId_77306_crumb__parentcategoryrn_77306

Cars on 23,450 miles and ill change it again at 30,000, inc. filter.

Cheers.

the second choice fits the bill although the saxo manual recommends 10W/40... as we're approaching winter (and depending on how many miles you decided to do there wont be a problem with 5w/40. the fact that it's fully synthetic is good start :)

On the brands side of things ok it my be made by a company like millers or castrol or whatever but they may skimp on additives...

For me I'd go for some branded stuff, fully synthetic and 5W/40 or 10W/40

:y:

Ok cheers, I think I may stick with the Halfords oil and drop it in about 5,000 miles or 6months, which ever comes first. I dont do that much driving reallly, it did 6,000 between MOTs just now.

I heard somewhere that Halfords oil was made by Exxon Mobil.. that didn't come from a spotty halfords retard either. (no offence meant if you are a halfords retard)
The 5/40 oil is the most suitable of the 2.. Personally i think frequency of oil changes is more important that the brand (unless its my race car in which case only the best will do - and its changed after every outing)

If your after a good 5w-40 full synthetic then go for this, as recommened by oilman

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/performance_lubricants/silkolene.aspx

bit more expensive though at £45
