i got my kit through today, fitted it on my dinner hour at uni but encountered a few problems... please bear in mind i've never fitted one before but after talking to the Kam Racing guy he assured me it was a simple job!

first off the rubber pipe that comes with it is too big for the engine, and there are no ways of actually mounting the scoop at the bottom!

i managed to solve that problem by using the original jubilee clip and cutting a small "V" shape out of one side of the pipe, which meant when i tightened the clip the two ends met and it was a snug fit

i then had to rush around for another jubilee clip and shat myself after they had none big enough at halfords or homebase... luckily b&q had them in!

so as you can see on the pic the top bit seems to be sorted

the small pipe coming from the top of the engine i had to bend round and put into the entry point on the side of the silver pipe... the red bit you see is just a bit of insulating tape i put around just incase there were any holes from the fact that it was coming in on an angle

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7692/27092007195as0.jpg

as you can see with the scoop at the bottom, i bent a bracket that came with the kit into an "L" shape and screwed that onto the bit in front of it ... so basically the scoop is resting with one corner of it on the edge of the battery and it isn't touching any of the hot surfaces below because the "L" shaped bracket i fitted stops it going any lower than that point

it sounds great i just wish after spending £100 on a kit it would have at least had instructions and certain parts that fitted slightly better!

just wondering if anyone can see any problems with how i've fitted it? the car seems to be running perfectly etc i am just double checking as i've only just got the car this week so don't want anything going wrong!

cheers!

Doesn't look fitted correctly to me, shouldn't the scoop sit flush to the slam panel, if so this will resolve the battery resting problem.

I bet it rattles like a good un dont it?

This is my simota, I made two brackets for it. One to the engine, where the original was attached and the second is a "U" shape bracket attached to the slam panel via original screws. Here is a pic:

is this the raceland for the vtr or vts, as i know of kam selling two sorts now.

after they bought out the vtr one, i would have thought it would be a much better fit, as a few people were using the raceland vts induction kit on their vtr.

its the one for the VTR apparently, although like i said the pipe at the top was ill fitting before i modified it and it does come with both "VTR" and "VTS" stickers in the kit

My car is a 51 reg for whoever asked

as for my power steering bottle - it wasn't in the way of the kit at all, its quite a bit further down in the engine bay and can still be seen/accessed even with the kit on

as for "rattling", all i can say is i'm suprised, it actually seems to be fine... can't hear any rattling at all, which i admit was a fear i had

anyway i do agree it'd be better with a more "solid" fix via some brackets - anyone got any idea where i can get some brackets from even if i have to do a bit of bending to get the right shape etc?

cheers

i totally agree the fit is a bit crap could ov been better its my first time at ftting one i found,

the rubber pipe was to small, the L shaped tube bit just didnt line up an everything was in the way.

iam running it at the mo with out the scoop an it does look an sound great at 3000 rpm ill try an post a pic tomorrow.

an when ive got time ill probally fit the scoop it does take a bit of thinking because everything is in the way.

i just cant see much air getting in because of the slam pannel but ill see when ive fitted it.
