Hi

anyone heard if you can put a 6-speed box in a VTS?
Does anyone else think it sounds like it needs another gear?!

cheers

The Super 1600 conversion uses a 6 speed sequential gear box and yes i agree the VTS could use another cog when you're on a motorway.

do you know where to buy one!? is it expensive?

If you have a look in this forum few threads down, there's one about the Super 1600 conversion. Cituning do the complete package for....... £76,000. smileys/smiley5.gif Don't know if they sell gearboxes separately.

You could always try Quaife. They make competition gearboxes. I drove a VTS with a 5 speed sequential box and that was awesome. Don't know exactly what they make for the saxo, but if you've got money, then i suppose anything is possible.

"if you got the money"

trust me if i had that sort of money a gearbox would be the last thing on my mind but thanks for your help anyways!

cheaper to have a BE3 conversion from gmc, though having the 6 speed box from the gti 6 would be a tad more expensive due to ahving a lot more fannying around with linkages etc...

Citroen and pergoet are pritty much the same ye! i might be wrong, but if u want a 6th gear, find urself a nackered 306 gti and have the gearbox away! wont be too much from a scrapy!

yeah its the fitting thats the problem, the boxes are from a different engine series and the bell housing wont fit the TU engine

GMC do do the conversion though, no idea on price though but i know AndyL on ssc has had it done and his car is running on road so it does work

6 speed sequential box roughly 12k, lot of work involved. once again gti6 box is too much work for most companies so you`ll be hard to find one that will carry the job out. i think andyL has had a 5 cogged be3 with long first and ratios that top out at circa 150.
