Hi all, just fitted a raceland ram/cold air filter system and the mpg has gone ridiculous it is gulping it, I run my vtr a mk1 with a new raceland 4-2-1 manifold upto now with no other mods and was getting 380-410miles to a tank full which was £40 now just got 130miles to £25 have i missed something out while fitting the kit???
The kit does improve the performance which i expected it too,
Lambda sensor is fine and if i fit the standard airbox the mpg goes back to normal
ps. put a little filter on the idle intake so that ok, and fitted it to the guide posted on here....
Help appreciatted
Cheers,
Jim

cold air feed makes eng think its cold so richens mixture up to compensate hence less mpg

If performance goes up, fuel economy goes down. Shouldn't be as big a difference as that tho:P

yeh it shouldnt be that bad, altho air filters do make you put your foot down to get the induction noise so that wouldnt help mpg

no coolant is cold the car thinks the car is cold. not the air.

enclosed inductions arnt supposed to guzzle fuel that bad, the open induction kits are the ones that drink your fuel so i thought

open or enclosed filters dont drink anymore fuel than than the standard one its just you put your foot down more to get the sound

Hi again guys, sorted problem out plumbed the idle intake sensor in to the silicone hose on the intake just in front of throttle housing instead of just puttin a little filter on it and f=*k me it runs better and getting as good mpg as with the standard setup, goes better than standard as well.
