I know alot has been asked about camming lately, but iv looked around and cant find answers to a few of my questions, so il ask all my queries about it :)
i have a V Reg 2000 Registeres VTR, im told its the 90Bhp engine in it, which apparently can take alot more powere, but the engine has 82k on the clock...
i want to cam it over christmas, so i was wondering
What cams would be best for the car, they will need to be the 90bhp ones for the silvertop engine.
How long would the car be in a garage getting it done?
Whats best to go for. ie a kit with the cams, pullys and whatnot?
I know i need a remap, but is there any specific thing i should get done for the mapping?
And also, is it worth doing this kinda work to a engine with 82k on the clock? im sure the engine wont go bang, but with it been a oldish engine, will it go bang quick with the work done?
Rep given for help obviously

Hi, it depends what cam you want, whether you want a mild one or one thats abit wilder..
I'd go for the Piper 285, raises the revs to 7000rpm and gives 14bhp when mapped..
It will need to be one for the silvertop engine..
If it was me i would get in touch with Kam racing on here, he will do you a full cam kit which i think comes with cambelt, vernier pulley etc for just over £400..
The engine will cope fine if its been well maintained and serviced how and when it should be..
Hope this helps..

For best gains, change the exhaust manifold & fit an enclosed induction filter as well!

certainly if you purchase just the cam its a lot cheaper.
cat cams work out good value compared to Piper and are often better profiles too

well the cam is the easy bit replacing the cam, pulley and cambelt should only reli take a few hours for a decent garage to carry out as i can do it in that and i ahve only been in the trade just over two years. Not sure on mapping though dude :)

Same engine as mine and i have 80k on the clock, will be caming mine with cat cams from kam-racing decent price and speedy to get here as well!
Got a B&M shoft shift from there dispatched same night.
www.kam-racing.com ill recommend them for saxo parts, alot on there!
As for fitting if you want a price guide talk to garage that does remaps as well ask for quotes since they'll give them.
ABP motorsport will do the fittings and sell cam kits as well + live remaps (increased rev limit to 7000rpm)
Remap is around the £250 mark with ABP.
