Just one more thing lol, if i do cam my car with the cam, will the engine be able to cope with such a wild cam?

Yeah, the std parts like conrods etc will handle it fine...

yes it will fit, not sure it would work properly though?
being as it was designed to work on a 1600cc engine, not 1400cc??

Check pipers site

Looks like the same cam for 1.4 & 1.6!

As quick said, the cam is the same on the VTR as the 1.4's..
Aslong as you use a silvertop VTR cam for the silvertop 1.4 and a blacktop VTR cam for blacktop 1.4's..

1. You don't need to change anything, though if over say, 70k, i probably would, replacing with standard parts are fine
2. Car will cope with the cam, it's not that wild. IIRC it's only 266 degree not a 285, so will be ok. Get it mapped up though. Chipwizards are the place

if its a 266 than you wont need to even upgrade the springs its a straght swap and will run as smooth as a standard cam will with no remap done
if its a 285 then your gonna need to change the springs etc and will need a remap to get it to idle smooth although in a vtr engine it will idle jwithout a remap just not great

...as above, would have thought a remap would help get the best out of the cam tbh :)

Yea think the map is the best way to go! How much did it cost ya's for a map?

well both myself and fuzzy orange run the kent 266 cam and ours runs nice and smoothly and both idle as well as with standard cam
mines in a 98bhp vtr engine and fuzzys in his quiksilver engine

Yea but the kent 266 runs on the standard injection where as the one up from that needs mapping!

ah, sorry, I thought we were on about the 16valve.
8 valves with a 266 deg cam are usually ok I think

Did you notice good gains from the 266?
MaRiO89
13th November 2007, 14:02
It will give you about 14bhp with a map and increases torque abit aswell..
You will defo notice it..lol
Will also rev properly..7k! :d

13th November 2007, 18:25
Ive had a chat to guy about cams etc and he was saying it was a bud idea to put in the cam (cam, belt and pulley) and re-map will cause idle probs and we should not do it - thoughts !!!!!!!
didnt want to start a new thread sorry for the hijack !!!!
