search mate, lots of good info.

basically you take the battery out the front and stick it where ever you want it (normally in a battery tray in the boot), and then you extend the live from the front to the rear, earth the earth terminal to the gearbox, then earth the battery to somewhere in the boot.

hope that helps a bit.

Get the rollcage in mate, mount the battery tray behind the passenger seat to the rollcage arm. Best place for it because you can feed the wires undr the carpet downt he middle of the car.

under the carpet!!, we'll have no carpet if there's a cage and all in sundrie track styling.

*tho mine is still in the car*

jeeves=disowned for having carpet lol

where can i get a battery tray from?

and where can i get the wire to extend it?

wire to extend = 4 gauge amp wire

battery tray = demon tweeks or similar, tho you could make one (will get my dad to make mine more than likely)

carpet and head liner will be out as soon as the cage goes in, and the sunroof will be being blanked too, will i be reowned then frankie?

will they sell 4 gauage amp wire in halfords?

jeeves you will be reowned when that is done lol.

p.s theres horrible black crap under the carpet in the footwells.

yes, halfords do 4 gauge amp wire, and with regards to the black crap, get cleaning.

there's worse stuff on the rear arches under the carpet, is like black tar.

I agree
What you want to do is use the battery weight to help balance the car left and right as mostly due to your bodyweight and the engine position there is a bias to the drivers side.

i was thinking rear passenger side for the battery, either rear footwall or in the boot, would this be ok? for weight distrubution.

just a note for safety - use a sealed battery lol

if you are using a standard battery then I think behind the rear seat will be best. If you can afford a small race battery then you can fit it in front of the seat without any passenger catching their legs on it..

what do you mean by sealed battery kam?

also, if its strapped into a tray, surely that would be ok? (like the battery in old mini's)

as for a racing battery, would the powervamp pv25 be ok to use? but still be good enough to use it as its an every day car?

non sealed batteries give off fumes. Can't remember exactly what but it aint nice and it's acidic iirc

And I used 0 gauge wire for the positive and 4 gauge for hte ground. Just to be safe. I think...

On SSC or FSC theres a guy with a 106 GTi who's running a bike battery.

I think it weighed 4kgs, a 9kg saving on the standard one iirc.

Not sure on the power output but he said it started the engine lol!

cheers ste.

i remember foggy said he uses a powervamp pv25, and if that is ok to run a car everyday then i'll prob get one of them.

£75 delivered and it only weighs 5.3Kg and is a sealed battery.
