Im in the group buy for a set of newman PH3 cams and i want to replace followers and valve springs but newman dont make valve springs for there cams. Im thinking that some catcam springs made for the 708's will be suitable? I have looked on there website and i cant understand which ones i will need as they dont say 'suitable for 708's' etc just state lots of facts like spring length and rate. Anybody know which ones will be suitiable? Thanks.

Don’t over-spring the camshaft. Most modern engines have valve springs that can be used for Phase 1 and 2 camshafts and in
some applications Phase 3 cams. So use the lightest spring possible.

Just read that on the newman site? Surely standard springs shouldent be used?

standard springs will be fine with them. only thing i would be wary of would be getting valve bounce at 7.8k rpm, hasnt ever happend as far as i know but it could do.

Theres too many contrasting thoughts! I read on GMC's website and they say that the springs should be changed and uprated whenever you use aftermarket cams. The thing is i dont want to be wary of taking my car to 7500rpm or the like and be constantly worrying if the standard springs are upto the job...:n: Probably best to speak to Newman directly..
