I think the feckers are going on mine.
Over the last month, on firing the ignition the engine hits idle then goes a bit mad, almost like an engine is about to stall if you go too slow in the wrong gear.
Also loads of lovely smog comes out the rear during this. I just blip the throttle on start up at the moment to minimise the dodgy idle, after which its fine.
Car is fine in every other respect, performance, economy, idle, etcetc
My guess is the glowplugs yey or ney?
car has done over 80k now

only way you can check them is take them out and test them on a battery :D

no, i can't but the best way i know is to take them out (one at a time) and lay across the battery so each end is touching a terminal, the battery should then start to heat them and make them glow.
if the glow is dim, and not spreading out propperly, then they are fooked.

if you take the wire rail off the glow plugs.( so they are all single)
take a piece of wire and conect to the positive on the battery,
touch each glow plug with the wire, if it sparks when contact
is made they are ok.
