Alternator???

anyone know the standard spec for the alternator on a 98 vtr, and where to get a really powerful one from and how much?

just replace it with the 1.5 diesel's one...
they are the strongest, and will fit your vtr

I'd get the battery from a 1.5 diesel first, as these are heavy duty batteries, and will give sufficient power..
Alternators are 55A, 70A and 90A from what I remember.

you shouldn't need to uprate the alternator. Just uprate the battery, like saxoal said, and uprate the connection from the alternator to the battery.

A friend of mine has done this and doesn't lose power to his ice anymore.....

i think you cant gain much by changing only the wire from the alternator to the battery, you simply get a clearer signal to the battery.
if you want to upgrade your battery's recharging, you should replace the alternator or open the 1 you own, and replace the diodes for stronger ones, and calibrate the charging regulator... that's how i understood it works, tell me if i'm wrong
