Alrite boys and girls ,,, Got an 03 VTS

Just wondering whats the best speed to cruise at for the best MPG

50 mph / 60 mph or even is there any difference (im sure there is tho)

I do about 30 ml a day to and from work ...:broken:

I guess whatever speed you get on about 2k RPMs in fith gear? For a realistic petty use Idea.Probably not enough torque to cruise along any lower than that.

Just a guess really, I have a VTR.

I suppose the best way Is just to keep the revs low at all times, so no high gear changes ect.

well 70mph isnt to bad, and you wont be late for work, but if you want mpg get a vtr gearbox as it has a longer final drive and you will be doing lower rpm at a higher speed ;)

50-60mph should be ok dude - its a good comprimise between getting about and getting good mpg.

i find in my vts 4k is around 80 and is just on the start of the cam profile (std cams) and its not tooo bad, but drop back to like 60-65 on the motorway and mpg is a fair bit better. (cant remember what the revs are at this speed)

I think something like 56Mph is meant to be the most eco speed to be travelling at (in top gear of course) a lot is also to be said for throttle position. No point doing 30Mph in 5th or 20Mph in 4th if your throttle is half open and your putting load on the engine.

So yeah 50-60Mph with as little throttle as possible. Also correct pressure tires and a well serviced car will all aid MPG!

I sit at 55/57mph = 2500rpm in a VTR

VTR final drive rocks

heard that if you sit at 65 instead of 80 then you save 25% on MPG, don't know what car that was on but theres some truth.

I Just stick it into 5th and go about 70mph, the revs are around lets say 3500rpm (VTR) but if your at a constant speed it should be alright as your not continuosly stopping and starting

On the motorway, I try and stick to around 56 -62MPH in 5th gear but my revs are at 3K already. (Curse them short gear ratios lol) It's best though when your driving to keep the revs below 2500rpm on ordinary roads (40mph speed limit) or at 60-65mph on motorways.

I try and sit at about 60 on the motorway but then u get the gayers in their BMW's and all the other nonces in their Fiesta Zetecs, StreetKA's, Corsa's etc so of course i have to show them whose boss lol

might explain why sitting at over a ton means i often only get 200 miles out of a tank lol!
