put a tenner in my VTR monday morning, 47 miles later, fuel light on again....
don't know if its the weather or what but that sounds like shite mpg.
what are people getting out of their VTR's?

Ive got 200miles out of my VTR on £20 so basicly 100 miles out of £10 but that was bk in june
But that was driving on long distances not around town
around town id say roughly 60miles maybe
It all depends on how you drive. if u pull away quickly then its gonna use abit of fuel

Same as me :y: was nearly full tank then on halfway mark i hit around 200miles

Saying that though i swear the first half of the tank goes slower than the 2nd half even though it makes the car heavier!

Thats is pretty crap. mines like that sometimes, did 22miles on a fiver. But usually its around the 100miles on a tenner mark.
Mapster
12th December 2007, 14:37
Yeah i think people normally get around 90/100 miles for a tenner.. i know thats what i get.
Wayne
12th December 2007, 14:43

I think you work it out like this i can never remember
half a tank lets say = £20
£20 fuel 19.61L at 102p per L
19.6L = about 4.3 galon
200 miles = 46.51 MPG
Think thats how you do it. That sounds to high tho really is yours a VTR / S
Id say a average petrol car should be getting between 32 - 38 MPG

mine is roughly the same as everyone else... but i have noticed bottom half goes quicker than top half of petrol for some reason... or is this just me being paranoid about petrol?
Barry123
12th December 2007, 17:33
cost me 50 focking quid to fill up the other day.

Has your car ever been over 1300 rpm :panic: :panic: :panic:

rarely do i get much more than 50-60 miles from a tenner. Depends what driving you do.
Keeping it under 3000 revs really helps.
Mines suffers from constant start stop, now more than 10 miles in one go.
Its been like this since i've had it, but 'ive had 40 mpg from keeping around 70 on the motorway.

theres fuel in the filler neck pipe thingy that leads to the tank so you have abit more then is gauged for the first half
Sophia_Bush
13th December 2007, 23:22
so general consensus is that to £10 you should average about 90miles if you are doing dual carriage way / mway driving and with stop start town and country drivng aroun 75miles? and to a full tank around 330-380miles?
Barry123
13th December 2007, 23:23
because of the overdrive on the VTR I'd expect around 110-120miles to a tenner really dude
Luke

£15 in the Focus yesterday, 70 miles later the fuel light is back on.
Winter sucks.

http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php
i used this and made 31.4 mpg with an open induction kit so not too bad, alot of my journeys are quite short,(meaning too far to walk but not giving the car long enough to warm up for a long enough time to benifit)
and when it does warm up i go for a play

£10 lasted 25miles on friday, driving like a cun*. but ive lasted 70 mile on ten quid so far driving normally, and pumped up types which maybe helped.

I thought i had a problem when i was getting similar miles from £10.
The solution?
To fill the tank up and then see how much i was getting from a tank rather than £10.
Try it and if you get around 280+miles then you're car is fine.

tenner normally gets me (VTS) about 50-80 miles average.

coasting is bad um-k :)
im guessing you only did short distances if it was town driving?
mpg sounds ok, but the cold weather and short journeys is going to hammer it severely
